Galapagos | Ecuador

After completing the Inca Trail, we decided that exploring the Galapagos Islands would be a perfect way to continue our South America adventure. Also with G Adventures, we spent ten days on a boat visiting the following islands:

  1. San Cristobal
  2. Espanola
  3. Floreana
  4. Santa Cruz
  5. Bartolome

We went snorkeling multiple times a day and went on numerous hikes, so of course we saw so many animals and so much marine life! My favorites were the Galapagos penguins and the sea turtles. We didn’t see any hammerhead sharks (there happened to be a super tide around the same time that we were there, meaning that algae and sea organisms were significantly obscuring underwater vision…), but after one of the snorkels, others in our group said that they saw some swimming underneath us. So I guess we can say that we swam with hammerheads even though we didn’t actually see them, right?

Such a cutie! We got really close to these little guys who were hanging out on Bartolome.

Kicker Rock by San Cristobal. This is usually a really good spot to sea hammerheads (and happens to be the spot where we apparently were swimming with a couple of them…).
