Inca Trail | Peru

If you asked me a few years ago whether I would consider going on a camping/trekking trip to be a vacation, I probably would have said no. This Mother/Daughter trip came about because my Mum had been wanting to visit Machu Picchu for a while, and she wanted to walk there as opposed to taking the train there. She did some research on which company we should do this trek with, and she ended up selecting G Adventures.

Even though it involved sleeping in tents for three nights, it hardly felt like we were camping because we were so well taken care of. Each time we arrived to the campsites, the porters had hot food prepared for us, our tents were pitched, and warm bowls of water were available for a quick hand and face wash after the long day of trekking.

I think what impacted me the most about this trip is how beautiful it was to be walking through the mountains and be so removed from society. This “vacation” changed the way that I want to travel and see the world. And, how cool is it go on an adventure like this with your Mum?!
